Woodstown, Schalick girls tennis teams suffer losses on the road

OCEAN CITY — Woodstown suffered its second loss of the girls tennis season, 4-1 at Ocean City, but the Wolverines did collect their first point of the year when their first doubles team won a pair of tiebreakers to take a straight-set win.

Emilee Kehr and Elliana Norman scored the Wolverines’ point when they outlasted Annabelle Terruso and Isabella Bailey 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (9-7). The Woodstown juniors fought back in both sets to take 6-5 leads before being extended to the tiebreakers.

“They really pushed through,” Woodstown coach Jesse Stemberger said. “It was a see-saw match with both teams having opportunities, but we were able to win the big points. It was another tough team, but I saw improvement from the first match to the second.”
