PENNSVILLE — The Salem CC football team played another game in which it stayed close enough to win, but its offense continues to struggle and the Mighty Oaks were shut out for the first time this inaugural season, 15-0 by Sussex CC.
The defense turned back the Skylanders’ six times after the visitors had gotten inside the 25, but the offense mustered only 42 net yards.
Of the six stops inside the 25, four had gotten inside the 20, two inside the 10 and one at reached the 1.
It was a 7-0 game at halftime. The Skylanders added a touchdown and a safety in the fourth quarter.
Salem’s deepest penetration into Sussex territory was the 35 on its second possession of the game.
The game was Salem CC’s homecoming and was the final home game of the inaugural season. The Mighty Oaks wrap up the season with road games against Navy Prep at the U.S. Naval Academy and Erie CC.
